So what's next
So now what? You've been accepted and it's coming down to the tough decisions. Many have financial aid packages...many more are on the way. Here's my prognosis: Don't look at financial aid as the end all of the process, or the guiding star on the compass. You see, money should be the W and E on the compass - in navigation it's West and East....for financial aid, it's "Worry" and "Excitement." Worry and Excitement, much like financial aid packages, can help provide balance - a horizon - in the college search process. One day you're really pumped about scholarships, the next day you're worried about the cost - Worry, and Excitement.
So what's the way North? "N" in this case stands for "natural," in otherwords, what is the natural fit for you. The institution has to be second Nature to you - because it will be a part of you - you only have one alma mater and it should be a place you'll be proud to call home!
So you've received the package - what's next? CALL ME if you have any questions whatsoever. What I will help you do is assist in figuring out how to manage the rest of the expense. Creighton will offer everything it can in the financial aid package, as well as ensure the quality education you will receive once here. What I can help counsel you through, is the other resources available, the MET plan for interest free payments, the alternative loans, the parent plus loans, even strategies each month to assist each family (not to mention new ways to look at summer employment).
When you're accepted at Creighton, you become a part of our family - and that invitation was extended because we already know you'll be a great fit here. Allow us to have those conversations, and to see if your values will find their way to Omaha.
p.s. The snow is melting - and we can't wait for the 50 degree weather next week!

tipping point
Hello!
So today marks the first day of my Spring Break, and it definitely feels like it. The air is so clean and crisp and the sky is blue and cloudless. So beautiful! If there were leaves on the trees, you might think it to be a clear autumn day. The snow is finally melting and i think that spring might be here a little early this year! It was a pretty harsh winter, so i'll be happy to see the last of the ice melt away off the sidewalks....also since that means i can ditch the treadmill and start doing my long runs outside again.
other than the weather...went to the johnmayer concert at the Qwest Center last night here is the set list.(yes i kept track of what he played)..he left me speechless once again:
Heartbreak Warfare
Vultures
Slowdancing in a Burning Room
Crossroads
Perfectly Lonely
Assasin
Heart of Love
All We Ever do is Say Goodbye
Waiting on the World to Change
Say
Bigger than My Body
Half of My Heart
Why Georgia
Electric Solo
Gravity
Encore:
Who Says
Friends, Lovers, or Nothing
i'm peacing out to california for spring break to see my siblings and friends...
and to leave you: Thank God For John Mayer.

Spring Break is finally here!
As the weather in Omaha has finally started to warm up to almost 40 degrees (a big jump for those of us who have been experiencing below freezing temperatures for way too long now) everyone's mind has begun to turn to the much anticipated spring break which will begin after classes tomorrow!
I could not be more excited as the end of the first half of my last semester at Creighton marks a lot of exciting things for me! For one, as of two weeks ago now I am finally done traveling for graduate school interviews. Up until last weekend, I had spent the last 5 weekends travleing to new destinations interviewing for a position in a Ph. Program in Biomedical Sciences. Spring Break marks the end of the maddness and a time for me to reflect on the schools I have seen as well as a time to begin thinking about where I might see myself following graduation. Spring break also means the end of the most intense week of my semester. Pushing through one test each day since Tuesday, I am looking forward to leaving my books behind and relaxing with friends. Lastly, as my spring break travels are taking me to St. Louis tomorrow, I am looking forward to sharing my Creighton pride with all the other students who will travel to St. Louis to watch the Creighton men's basketball team in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. I am looking forward to meeting up with my roommates who all left today and sharing in the fun as we cheer on our Creighton Jays!
I am always more fulfilled and better able to enjoy break when I know that I have worked hard to deserve the time off. Thus, I am happy that this week has been one which has tested my strength as an academic and am looking forward to a relaxing week and a fairly low key and exciting remainder of the semester when I return.
Spring Break 2010!

reggae time in omaha
The cold weather here is enough to make anyone want to run to the bed and hide under the covers until march, but recently there have been more than enough reasons for me to throw on some party clothes and brave the snow on the ground.
Last weekend, the band Rebelution played at the Slowdown, a concert venue set up by Omaha's own Connor Oburst (lead singer of the band Bright Eyes). The crowd was a mixed bag, with many of the Hawaii kids making the trip down to see the reggae band in action. The show was by no means a disapointment- they band was great the joint was "bumping". i loved seeing some familiar faces, and some new ones too!
other exciting news...I've got tickets to see john mayer in action coming up at the beginning of next month- I also got to see him 2 years ago when i was a sophomore, he usually makes a stop in omaha about once a year.
cant ask for more, thanks omaha for having a great music scene!
in the words of reggae master bob marley- "when the music hits you, you know you've got no pain"
