The Hickle's

This Blog is for two parents (Jim & Reta) to share our thoughts and feelings about our experience of sending our children (Alan & Tyson) to Creighton. We are open to questions and will try to share a couple of times per week.

Our First Entry

We just returned from a two week whirlwind trip visiting both boys. Alan just graduated from Creighton in May and is now gainfully employed with Epic Systems in Madison WI in Inplementation Services installing the Hospital Inpatient Records Application. He begins by traveling to the east coast, and surprising enough getting the opportunity to visit a couple of his fellow Creighton classmates. Tyson is back at Creighton for his Junior year and living off campus for the first time. We also realized this is the first time he is alone with out his big brother or parents around. Reta and I and back to the "empty nest" keeping busy and missing both boys, but proud of all they are doing. Reta is already looking forward to Parents weekend. Our last night after dropping off Tyson for move-in was spent hosting a cookout at Tyson's new home for his roomates and him and their friends/girlfriends. Reta feels good that they have had at least 1 meal with all of the main food groups (including veggies, salads, chicken, milk, and strawberry-rhubarb pie). She worries that they will survive cooking for themselves, but I keep reminding her he still has meals on campus, and that his girlfriend and him did cook us a 7 course meal this summer that was probably the highlight of our summer. They even though spent all day shopping, preparing, cooking and finally serving. Reta needs the computer, but please feel free to post any thoughts or questions you may have for the "Creighton CU BLOG parents". -- Jim
