This past week was our Homecoming, and this year it coincided with Alumni Weekend.  It was a really exciting week with a comedian, a hypnotist, the golf cart parade, and our Homecoming soccer game.  However, it is crazy to think that this is the last time I will experience it all as a student.  I have loved my time here at Creighton these past three years, and it is hard to believe that it is close to an end.  Things are starting to happen in a whirlwind...I am interviewing for jobs and deciding where to settle down initially.  I am interviewing with the two largest accounting firms in Omaha, and I will also be making the trek down to Wichita to interview with a privately-held company there.  Things are going well because ... One of our spirited welcome week activities involved a little bit of dorm hall competition. On one of our first days here, all of the freshman dorm residents got together with their RAs and learned their very own dorm cheer. The best dorm by far is Kiewit, which just happens to be mine. Our cheer is pretty catchy--- we were out on the mall that night yelling our cheers to see which residence hall was the loudest! I had been so exhausted from all of the events, but my voice was hoarse from all of that screaming. Kiewit is the biggest all-freshman dorm with about 400 students. Hey guys hope everyone is doing well.  This week is going to be very very hectic.  I was up until 4am studying last night for classes and finishing some papers for this week.  I got up this morning at 630 and was out the door to run since I have to miss practice today.  I got back at 8 and now I decided to start my day completely.  I probably should be studying for my philosophy test that I have at 1230, but I decided I would post first seeing that I may not have a chance again this week.  My week is going to be busy starting today.  I have a test at 1230 and then a paper and 2 map quizzes at 630 tonight.  On tuesday, I will try and relax a little, because I don't have class, but at about 215 I will be going to help out with a junior hig ... hah i dont know why i titled the blog that, just it sounded clever.

week three down in the books for the year being over! (not that i am counting or anything) this week was exceptionally busy with lots of school related things. this year i am a BIO 211 TA, so getting to know the students in my class has been a real pleasure and lots of fun. It's nice to know that i still remeber some of the material from when i took the class a couple years ago. other than that, i am also working in the Creighton Medical Center ER, which is lots of fun. nothing to interesting from there yet- but i will keep you posted.

I have now been down in Santiago, Dominican Republic for three and a half weeks and I am having a great time.  The culture is completely different than back in the United States, everything is a bit more relaxed and easy going.  I have been getting used to power outages, hurricane season (we are pretty protected by the mountains so all we really get is rain), bugs and roosters crowing at all hours of the day.  I have been volunteering at an elementary school in a poor neighborhood helping teach kids English.  It is amazing how lacking their education system is, classrooms don't have the suplies they need but they are making the best of what they have.  The kids are so much fun and are full of questions and although I'm still just learning Spanish they are v ... I turned in my first paper for my Theology class last week. I really like the class, but I was so nervous about doing well! It was only a one page response to the novel we were reading, but I didn’t feel like I had enough background information about the first section to have a valid opinion. My heart was absolutely pounding when we got our papers back a few days later. It seemed like forever until he called my name, and as soon as I received my paper at the end of class, I folded it and bolted out the door. I was told some very exciting news this weekend.  I was told that there is an elementary school in Omaha that is possibly looking for a 5th grade boys basketball coach.  When I heard the news I wanted to jump right on board, becasue 1) I'll be able to work with kids 2) I would be coaching basketball and 3) It will be a lot of fun.  So I am really hoping that the elementary school does need somebody to coach, because I would gladly take an hour to two hours out of my day to help coach a basketball team.  I just felt like sharing this exciting news....well at least I think it's exciting.  Hope you all have a great day!

This year is flying by. It seems like just yesterday I was starting RA training and now I am already up to a couple of my first exam and papers in the next week. The year has been full of excitement. The first major excitement is the success of birdcage ( a pep club organization ) of which I am president. So far we have recruited nearly 200 members.  I got a job offer from a very large business, it was very flattering but I am lets see what else has happened. O Yeah this one really shocked me I mean I was kind of expecting job offers and success of bird cage but one thing I would never have expected to happen to me while I am at CU was to be nominated for homecoming king and to my surprise this year I was nominated for just that. This weekend is full of exciting events that I can’t wait to begin.
